About
Mount Donna Buang Walk gives guests staying at Yarra Valley Lodge a more rugged way to experience the Yarra Valley, with mountain air, forest tracks and wide views over the ranges.
Set above Warburton in Yarra Ranges National Park, Mount Donna Buang is one of the region’s best-known outdoor experiences. The area is known for tall Mountain Ash forest, cool temperate rainforest, scenic lookouts and walking tracks that feel more remote than the cellar doors and villages below.
Why visit Mount Donna Buang
Mount Donna Buang suits travellers who like to spend part of their stay outdoors. It is a good option for guests who want to balance the softer pace of the Yarra Valley with a more active day in the hills, whether that means a short summit walk, a visit to the Rainforest Gallery, or a longer walk through the forested parts of the national park.
The summit area offers views across Warburton, the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges and beyond on clear days. Nearby, the Rainforest Gallery gives guests an easier way to experience the landscape, with elevated platforms and forest paths through ferns, Mountain Ash and myrtle beech. For those who enjoy walking, photography, fresh air and scenic drives, this part of the Valley adds a very different texture to the stay.

Make it part of your stay
Mount Donna Buang is best planned as a fresh-air day from Yarra Valley Lodge. Leave after breakfast, take your time through Warburton, then choose the level of walk that suits the day, from a shorter summit visit to a forest stop at the Rainforest Gallery.
After time on the tracks, return to the Lodge for a slower evening and dinner at Bella Restaurant. It is the kind of day where the best part of coming back is doing very little, resting tired feet, settling into the estate and letting the mountain air give way to a quiet night in the Valley.
