Held at the Tesselar Flower Fields in the stunning Dandenong Ranges, the Tesselar KaBloom Festival of Flowers offers an explosion of colour, with over one million flowers in bloom across five acres of garden. The entire family will enjoy the vibrant colours and fragrances as you stroll through the flower fields filled with Marigolds, Salvias, Cosmos, Cleomes, Petunias, Gomprena, Celosia, Lavender and so much more. And if that’s not enough the festival is full of themed weeks and weekends throughout April with lots on offer if you are looking for What’s on in the Dandenong Ranges.

The Festival of Flowers school holiday program includes plenty of action packed family fun to keep the kids (young and old) entertained all day and highlights include:

• Bespoke Flower Circus Show – The Circus Fireman will keep you enthralled as they turn up the heat with high energy acrobatics, red hot juggling and searing comedy. The show runs daily from 1pm each day of the festival.

• Circus Workshops – Local troupe, Ruccis Circus will be running daily circus workshops between April 6 – 22 from 11:30am – 2:30pm. Here you can try your hand at juggling, ride mini bikes, learn how to hula hoop and more!

• Eggcellent Egg Hunts – During the Easter Long weekend there is a special Easter egg hunt running daily from Good Friday to Easter Monday (19-22 April). Admission to the Easter egg hunt is $10 and all hunters receive a pack of Easter eggs and bunny ears and there is plenty of fun to be had!

Get your Easter sweet fix during the Easter School Holidays at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery with awesome Easter Chocolatier classes and Easter creations to enjoy and explore during the school holidays. It’s also a great place to buy some delicious Easter Treats to take back to the hotel with you to enjoy on Easter Sunday or where you can indulge in decadent desserts, hand crafted chocolates, melt in your mouth chocolate brownies or tasty ice cream.

• Easter Creations – from now until the 22nd April you can visit the Easter creations featuring an amazing display of over 30,000 handcrafted Easter chocolates – from tiny to large decorative eggs, fun freckled eggs, filled and flavoured eggs, whimsical chocolate bunnies including our very own Floppy, chicks, hens, and frogs using the finest couverture, nearly one metre tall bunnies, decadent truffles and more!

• Junior Chocolatier Classes - in a 45 minute Junior Chocolatier Class held in our ‘parent free zone’, children aged 6 – 12 years can learn from our chocolatiers how to make their very own chocolate creations. The classes fee includes a personalised badge, chef’s hat and apron, graduation certificate plus take home three chocolate creations to enjoy. Classes available on Tuesday 9th & 16th, Wednesday 10th April and selected Saturday mornings throughout School terms. Bookings are essential.

• Easter Photo Wonderland – during the Easter Long Weekend the entire family can experience an Easter wonderland perfect for capturing a family Easter photo. Stroll through the orchard and you will discover three marquees beautifully dressed in different backdrops with Easter Bunnies at hand to join in on family snaps and to hand out free Easter eggs to little chocolate lovers. Entry is a gold coin donation to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation and over 10,000 handcrafted eggs are being prepared to give away.

The Healsville Sanctuary is one of the best places to see Australian wildlife in their natural habitat and is a great Easter School Holiday activity during your Yarra Valley Holiday. Even better the kids can enter free of charge on the weekends and during the school holidays so it’s an affordable school holiday activity the entire family will enjoy.

At the Healsville Sanctuary the kids can listen to expert keepers talk about the animals they care for, educate them (in a fun way) about conservation work being done and where they get up close and personal with kangaroos, platypus wombats, wedge-tailed eagles and all your furry friends! And during the Easter Holidays until the 14th July the kids can enjoy an experience straight out of the ice age as they explore the Healsville Sanctuary MEGA BEASTS exhibit and marvel at the Giant animals called megafauna which once roamed the landscapes of Asia Africa and North America, 10,000 years ago.

If you are looking for fun and affordable school holiday activities for the kids, Sky High Munt Dandenong has loads of Easter activities to keep the kids entertained. From 9 April to 21 April 2019 they can enjoy unlimited access to bouncy castles, mini golf, treasure hunts, farmhouse friends and more so much more as all activities, rides and entertainment is included in a small gate fee of $7.00 per car and an Easter Egg hunt will run from 10:00am – 10:15am on the 21 April (maximum 6 eggs per child).
Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the SkyHigh Gardens which were refurbished in 2004 and include an English garden set below a canopy of mature Blackwoods a secret garden popular with Yarra Valley Weddings and the entire family traversing the Sky High Maze.

If you are looking for excitement during the Easter School Holidays, the kids can experience the exhilaration of a 240 metre dual flying fox, slide down the tube run or join in a game of laser skirmish at Lake Mountain. The family can explore the track and trail network on foot or hire a mountain bike from the Lake Mountain café and burn off any excess energy on the car ride back to the hotel on the indoor jumping castle.
