Mum-Cation in the Yarra Valley

Need an excuse to take a break away from being a Mum? You have one with psychologists confirming that Mums should be taking regular ‘mum-cations’ getting some out from the demands and stresses of motherhood. Whether you are a full-time mum or trying to juggle work commitments with motherhood, handing the kids over to your partner or the grandparents and investing in a mum-cation experience with your best mum friends, is just what you need to recharge your batteries.

Be it a few glorious days or an entire week away with the girls indulging in uninterrupted conversations, lingering over a meal, enjoying a quality glass (or more) of wine, taking the time to reconnect with your tribe will go a long way to restoring your sense of self and give you the well-earned break you need to get back into the swing of things.

So, lock in your dates, pack your bags and get set to experience the ultimate mum-cation in the Yarra Valley!

EXPERIENCE LUXURY

A getaway to the Yarra Valley has all the ingredients you need for the perfect mum-cation. An easy 45 minute drive from Melbourne will see you in the heart of the Yarra Valley wine region where you can unwind at the picturesque boutique Yarra Valley Lodge set on 990 acres of what once was Yarra View Farm and offer luxury Yarra Valley accommodation.

The spacious Lodge Twin rooms have 2 sleep in quality twin Queen beds and are perfect for sharing with your bestie. If you are looking for more alone time, indulge in a Lodge King room all to yourself. Start your weekend off with a glass of bubbles as you take in the serenity and silence while looking out over views of the surrounding hills and valleys from your private balcony.

PAMPER

There is no better way to let go of tension, stress and to restore your sense of self than with an indulgent pampering experience at the Heritage Retreat and Day Spa. Located onsite the Heritage Golf Club, next door to the Yarra Valley Lodge, here you can spend an hour, a day or the entire weekend enjoying a relaxing facial, massage, hand and foot spa treatments or body and water therapy. For the ultimate in indulgence we highly recommend investing in a decadent 3-hour LI’TYA The Dreaming spa package which embraces traditional Aboriginal healing techniques using the native ingredients of the LI’TYA products to relax your body and restore your spirit.

DINE

Yarra Valley is the ‘food bowl’ capital of Victoria with exceptional fresh local produce and renowned for their gourmet delights like the melt in your mouth Yarra Valley cheese and exquisite Yarra Valley chocolate. Pack a gourmet picnic or dine at one of the many Yarra Valley restaurants offering a variety of Yarra Valley dining experiences from casual to fine dining.

Our own Bella Restaurant harnesses the best local produce in the region with the menu adapting to accommodate the changes to the seasons offering. By night Bella delivers an exquisite provincial menu designed by our Yarra Valley Lodge chefs. By day the buffet breakfast in the Yarra Valley is on offer where you can linger over your coffee or glass of freshly squeeze orange juice and take your time to explore all the different tasty breakfast options. Better yet it is included in your accommodation rate.

WINE TOUR

You are in wine country, so it would be rude not to include a Yarra Valley wine tour into your mum-cation itinerary. Make an incredible day of it leaving your keys behind and enjoy a Yarra Valley wine tour with an experienced guide from Wild Wombat Winery Tours who will take you on an exploration of best boutique wineries in the Yarra Valley on your Yarra Valley one day itinerary.

Either take one of their spectacular Yarra Valley small group wine tours which run 7 days a week with small groups of up to 11 people which will see you visiting up to 4 different cellar doors for an opportunity to taste and learn about a broad range of wine styles and lunch at one of Yarra Valleys gourmet winery restaurants. Or upgrade to a premium private tour complete with your own dedicated tour guide at your service for the day where you and your mum friends can start the day with a glass of bubbles as you enjoy a personalised tour of the scenic wine region and exploring the wines at the cellar doors, indulging in a 2 course lunch and visiting other attractions in the region.

HIGH TEA

Making time to enjoying a decadent Yarra Valley Lodge High Tea is a must during your mum-cation. Our delectable High Tea is available at the lodge every Sunday from 2-4pm where you can indulge in Salmon and Chicken Waldorf Sandwiches, Pork Belly Croquettes, Curry Puffs (from a 100-year-old recipe!), gluten free scones with condiments and sweet patisserie items all handmade inhouse using the freshest of ingredients. Our Yarra Valley Lodge High Team menu is paired with beverages from the Yarra Valley Tea Co and Yarra Coffee or indulge in a glass or two of bubbles.

EXPLORE

Have a sleep in and enjoy a leisurely day exploring the Yarra Valley. The region has so much more to offer than the most incredible wine and scenic wineries dotted throughout the region. Don your trainers and wander around the beautifully manicured grounds of the Yarra Valley Lodge meeting the local wildlife as you explore. Or add some of the ‘must do’ Yarra Valley attractions to your Yarra Valley itinerary like the Tarrawarra Museum of Art, the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and the Yarra Valley Dairy where you can collect.
If you don’t mind an early start, one of the best ways to really take in the beauty of the Yarra Valley region is by watching the scenery come alive at sunrise on a Hot Air Balloon experience followed by a champagne breakfast back at the Yarra Valley Lodge.

PICNIC

There is no better place to picnic than the Yarra Valley with so many great Yarra Valley picnic spots available. Pack a gourmet hamper incorporating a bottle or two of local Yarra Valley wine and tasty items you have picked up on your explorations. Make sure you head to the Yarra Valley farmers markets to stock up on any goodies you may have missed, and while you there you can pick up some locally made artisan trinkets and gifts for the kids.
